High accuracy ultrasound scanning for cows.
To detect pregnancy in cows we use the ‘bug scanner’ from IMV Imaging which is carried on your back and seen through googles. It is very portable and easy to use and is built to cope with the demanding environment of the farm.
Scanning is an good way to identify barren cows and to estimate calving dates for pregnant cattle. The scanning procedure is 99% accurate and is usually done within seconds.

Cow Scanning Info:
- For higher accuracy scan before 120 days as cows carrying more than one calf can be found and better gestation age can be established
- Cows carrying more than one calf can be fed accordingly
- If scanning is left to after the 120 day period, then it is more difficult to establish if a cow is carrying more than a single calf, also determining age will not be as accurate
