MacRoberts Hoof Trimming is a family run business based in County Down, Northern Ireland.
We currently use Riley Built American rollover crushes. These crushes are ideal for all farm sizes whether large or small, set up is quick and easy for both the handler and cattle.

Hoof Trimming Best Practice:
- Dairy Cows should be trimmed MINIMUM of 2 times a year
- Best time to trim is 6-7 months in calf
- 80-120 days in lactation
- Heifers should be trimmed 2 to 3 months before calving
- Screw toed cattle should be trimmed every 3 to 4 months
- Hoof Trimming is an important benefit to both cows and farmer, because not only will over grown feet evolve into more complicated conditions and cause distress and discomfort to the animal, but can financially cost the farmer in lost milk production and cow fertility problems.
